Writing a Book

Writing a book is not an easy job, and is not meant for everyone. However with a bit of practice and knowledge, most people having a good hold on the language can very well write a book.

When writing a book, there are many aspects which must be considered to produce quality content so that it has a definite impact in the minds of the readers. Only if the book contains quality material, will it find a publisher. Publishers get books of all sorts, and most are rejected. The best publishers in the market look for quality content. What they ask themselves while selecting a book to publish is that, if they wanted to buy a book, would they have selected this one over the others. Moreover, publishers also consider whether a book has the ability to create hype in the market, and what kind of marketing will be required to get sales. If a book is well written, then most publishers do not mind paying a big a sum of money to the writer as royalty.

Book writing is not the same as writing an article or an essay. Articles, essay, business writings, etc. can be completed at one go, however when you are writing a book, this is not possible. Writing a book continues for days, weeks, months and sometimes even years. Your speed depends upon the subject of the book. Informative books can be written quickly as compared to fiction.

Therefore, if you do not have the patience and time to spare, writing a book is not your cup of tea. This is why many budding writers begin writing a book, but gradually they loose their interest and leave it in the midst. To keep your motivation alive, it is very important that you are interested in the topic of the book. For instance writing a book on "Financial Market Derivatives" may seem very lucrative, but if you know nothing about the matter and you are not interested in it, then it is highly probable that your motivation is not going to last long, and even if it does, you might not be able to produce quality content, which you might have, had you written a book on a topic of your choice, say – "tattoo designing".

Your time is precious and you should take up a topic only if you are confident that you can write a complete book on it. You should be able to frame the contents or the plot of a book before you start writing. In fact for writing a book efficiently, it is essential that you know what you are going to write on a page, before you begin with the first word on the particular page.

Lastly, once you have begun writing on a topic, the least you want, is to stop mid way or drop the idea of finishing the book. This is not desirable at all, and therefore, you must first analyze whether you have the capability, the motivation to write, and then only begin writing a book.
