Structuring a Successful Book
Most writers wish to write a book on their own, get it published and gain popularity. However, writing a complete book is a completely different task, as compared to writing essays or even articles. For writing a successful fiction you need to have an idea. The idea must be unique if you want the book to do well and appeal to a large group of people. The quality of the book is decided when you are beginning to write it. A great, well written book may not do well, if the matter is not properly presented, and another book with much less potential can outperform your book. After you have decided on the topic of your book, you must decide the style of writing and structure the content of the book, you wish to write down. This includes giving a name to your book, naming the chapters, sub-chapters if any. Your writing skills are needed at this point. A title must represent the essence of the book. For e.g. if the book is a mystery novel, the title must be able to create a feeling of suspense in the mind of the reader.
When
you begin writing a book, you should keep in mind, that no part of the
book should sound boring. There are many books which have certain
chapters which many people find boring. Each chapter should be written
in such a form that even when a reader wishes to re-read the book, he
would not want to skip a particular section or a particular chapter.Motivation and Inspiration is the key to writing a successful book. When a novice writer is inspired from the works of other great author, this does not mean that the content of other writers should be copied. Plagiarism is not liked by anyone, and simply stating that the book is a result of inspiration from another does not justify plagiarism. The author of a book can also be sued in the court of law for plagiarism and asked to pay the damages.
The language and size of a book depends on the category of readers it will cater to. For e.g. a book that is meant for 8 to 12 year olds, should not be too big or should not contain complicated language, as the readers may loose interest in the book. Similarly, a book which is meant for scholars only should contained detailed information on and focus even on minute details, it should also be well written and should not sound amateurish.
Only the readers make a book successful, therefore a book must be written only for the readers, not the media, not the press, nor anyone else. If the book is really good, then the marketing for the book is done by the readers themselves. A reader who has liked the content will tell others to read it and so on. This way once the plot goes viral, then there will be a sudden increase in the sales and the book shall immediately become popular.
