Writing Online - An Introduction
Writing online
is completely different as compared to writing for
school and college papers, or even for newspapers and magazines. Online
writing is much more than just producing, grammatically correct
sentences. The articles should be informative and useful to the reader,
and should be so good, that the reader bookmarks the article for future
references also. Web writing, involves, a bit of technical
requirements, however, with a bit of practice, any one good in a
particular language can become a great writer. Writing for Childrens Books also needs extra care and better attitude, and using the right selection of words. When writing something online, the writer must first consider the purpose of the article. This mean, that whether the article is meant for just search engines, or just occasional visitors, or both! The writing style would completely change in each case. Of course, the best form of writing is that which caters to all needs perfectly.
Effective
writing and good articles would rank higher in Search Engines
like Google. This would then boost the search engine ranking points,
and make the site rank higher compare to its competitors. As stated
before, a good article should cater to all needs. Therefore, a article
must not be boring or uninformative to the reader. If it is, then this
would create a negative impact I the reader’s mind, and he or
she would not want to read rest of the articles present on the
particular site. The foremost thing which should be considered which writing online, are the Keywords. Keywords in an article are the words or phrases that help search engines determine quickly, what the article is about and form a quick summary to present to the searcher. For e.g. an article about "baseball caps” should contain the main keywords "baseball caps", in order to rank higher in the search engines. However, this feature must not be exploited in any way, and the articles should not be written "only" for search engines. Experienced webmasters claim, that a webpage or site is penalized by search engines like Google, if the article is too keyword stuffed. A keyword stuffed article is a paragraph or excerpt, which has been written only for search engines. E.g. of a keyword stuffed phrase on "baseball caps" would be – "baseball caps are nice, baseball caps are costly, baseball caps are cheap, baseball caps are red in color." etc.
No kind of optimum keyword density has been specified by the search engines. However, webmasters and online writers believe that a keyword density of 2.5% to 4% is considered appropriate (as per Secapio SEO Company).
